Women of the 1st Presbyterian Church of LaGrange donate quilts

Nine women representing the 1st Presbyterian Church of LaGrange visited CCIL on Thursday, August 13, 2009. The ladies presented CCIL with 17 beautifully stitched, hand-made quilts and toiletries all to be used by CCIL residents and alumni. CCIL board member Kathy McFarland, accompanied by staff members Laura Shanklin and Chris Wiens, led the group on a facility tour and everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared by CCIL's Foodservice Program trainees. A special thank you to the many loyal CCIL supporters at 1st Presbyterian Church of LaGrange!

Safe in the City

CCIL will be hosting "Safe in the City" on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 5:30 p.m. as we work together for a safer community. This presentation is in collaboration with CAPS and the Chicago Commission on Human Relations Advisory Council on Women (CCHR ACW) and will be held at CCIL's main campus located at 2750 W. Roosevelt Road. Participants will learn useful ways to be safe and part of a healthy community. The presentation will also include a demonstration of self-defense procedures. All are welcome! With the rash of violence and crime permeating the city, please consider taking time out of your schedule to attend.

For more information, please call William Townsell of the CAPS Implementation Office at 312-745-5900.
